NMSHSA Distributes First Round of Payments for Farm and Food Workers Relief (FFWR)

Washington DC – Just in time for the new year, the National Migrant and Seasonal Head Start Association (NMSHSA) initiated distribution operations of $600 relief payment cards to farmworkers across the United States.

After months of working with NORC at the University of Chicago and 24 federally funded Migrant and Seasonal Head Start (MSHS) programs, the NMSHSA has started giving back to the farmworkers who kept America fed throughout the COVID-19 pandemic.

The NMSHSA could not be more proud to have received this grant to give back to our MSHS families and the greater farmworker community,” Cleofas Rodriguez, Jr., Executive Director of NMSHSA.

To receive their payments, eligible farmworkers will undergo a thorough but quick verification process. This is a one-time payment available to anyone 10 years old or older and who completed at least one hour of paid farm work any time between January 27, 2020 and the present time.

We have worked diligently for the past two months establishing a system that will work efficiently to provide everyone with their payments. However, the work does not stop here. We will continue to work hard to make sure that everyone who qualifies for this relief payment will receive it.

Farmworkers looking to receive their well-deserved payments are encouraged to visit their nearest MSHS center or direct questions to FFWRINFO@nmshsa.org.
